Ballet Arkansas Stages Annual Arts in Concert Performance Print E-mail

Ballet Arkansas will stage its Third Annual Arts in Concert performance on October 17-18 at Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts (20919 Denny Road in Little Rock). Arts in Concert is sponsored by the Bill and Sharon Arnold Family Foundation, and is a celebration of all art forms. The beauty, grace and entertainment of professional dance and live music are staged together, and the inspired visual art of local painters and sculptors are on display for audience members to enjoy.

Arts in Concert will have three acts featuring the Ballet Arkansas professional company members and its junior company. They will be performing three original pieces choreographed by Ballet Arkansas’s Artistic Director Arleen Sugano, as well as pas de deux’s from Le Corsaire and Don Quixote. Sugano is a ballet coach, teacher, choreographer and director, and has a master’s degree in choreography. She has taught at the Joffrey Ballet School (American Ballet Center) in New York City, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet in Carlisle, PA and Lula Washington Dance Academy/Company in Los Angeles. The Ballet Arkansas Company members are Jonathan Bostick, Case Dillard, Kelsee Green, Lauren McCarty, Grace Tilley and Paul Tillman.

Clark Erickson, pianist, and Danny Fletcher, guitarist, will be performing musical pieces. An Art Reception will be held before both performances where guests will able to enjoy the work of Heike Talbert, Charlotte Carooms, Tanya Sweetin, Susan Williams, Vicki Kovaleski and Jon Shannon Rogers.

Arts in Concert will be held Saturday, October 17th at 7:00 pm, with the Art Reception beginning at 6:00 pm. The Sunday, October 18th performance is at 3:00 pm, with the Art Reception beginning at 2:00 pm. Arkansas has seen many accomplishments such as Cynthia Gregory performing with Ballet Arkansas, bringing Mikhail Baryshnikov to Little Rock and receiving the Stream Award from the Southwestern Regional Ballet Association Festival. Ballet Arkansas produces The Nutcracker each holiday season at Robinson Center Auditorium.
